What Would Carrie Do?

Hi Ladies (sorry boys)... Its bank holiday Monday and I am laying in bed as you do reflecting with my mind speeding at 100 miles per hour(as usual) and thought this I write this quick post. Spent the day at the spa and in between treatments I picked up May's issue of In style magazine. While rummaging through and admiring the the faces of models I can only wish to look like and starring at the most amazing pieces of clothing I too can only dream of affording one day ( An Armani Pantsuit going at £1,450 a pop but a girl can only dream right?) I stumbled across an article about my beloved Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP), I don't know what it is about this woman but I am utterly obsessed and its dawned on me that in my head she is and forever will be Miss Carrie Bradshaw and the obsession I have with that fictional character has to be an unhealthy one. Carrie as fictional as she is couldn't be more real to me. So real in my head we are best of friends. In an ideal world I would be Miss Carrie Bradshaw. She goes beyond a TV character to me and for that I just have to applause Candace Bushnell. It takes real talent to bring a character to life that women all over the world can relate to, no matter where you're from. Being from East London and never stepping foot in America but still having so much to relate to Madame Bradshaw. My love for her goes beyond her love for shoes, her humongous wardrobe and fancy couture, she reminds you what a woman should be, being an individual, knowing who you are and not being afraid to stand out from the crowd. Growing up in a generation of tracksuits, Jourdans and converses (don't get me wrong I own a few converses myself) and being questioned by my peers constantly to why I am "overdressed" to every occasion/event, my answer to the tiring, monotonous and tedious questions "where do you think you're going" or "why are you overdressed" is Carrie would understand.
As much as I hate to admit it, I feel as if I have conformed and really let society stand in the way of the extent I can push myself in my personal style. I miss the 17 year old me that wore polka dot dress with a petticoat to college and dressed liked the cast of little house of the prairie. Fashion for me goes far beyond trends and magazine and whats in or not at the moment, Its personal, Its expressive, Its who I am, It's how I express myself. How I am dressed is usually the biggest indicator of how I am feeling. I am one of those weird folks that still believe a woman should take pride in her appearance whether she is going to the fanciest restaurant or going down to the local cinema. A woman should always look put together and should never be sloppy with her appearance. Both fashion Icons of mine are the biggest examples of this. Audrey Hepburn and Madame Bradshaw and lets not forget the one wearing the crown in this deteriorating generation, Miss Victoria Beckham. I mean this woman is consistent and when have you ever seen her look bad or short of being the absolute class act that she is? yeah.. let's ponder on that for a minute...
Going past the shoes, petticoat and all the glam, one other thing I can completely relate to Ms Bradshaw is her love for Mr Big. Oh Mr Big..... I think if we are all completely honest with ourselves we all have our own Mr Big. Can't speak for all but I have mine.... A Mr Big type of love doesn't come around often, In some cases I believe not everyone is privileged to experience that kind of Mr Big love. I call it "Movie Love", my friends reading this will know exactly what I mean but have you ever been in love and it just seems so surreal? that even the lows are just as high and the highs? and have the most magical moments that you're made to believe only the big screen have to offer? yep! I call it movie love. That unexplainable bond that never fades away even after the credits and bloopers are over? Movie Love. If you're reading this thinking nope never had movie love, oh my dear when it comes, are you in for a ride!! buckle up because to goes beyond your wildest expectations. On that note, I leave you on a high with fabulous outfits, being a woman that takes pride in herself and last but not least Mr. Big and remember "Carrie would understand"
